Sarcomas are rare cancers that develop in the bones and soft tissues, including fat, muscles, blood vessels, nerves, deep skin tissues, and fibrous tissues. Each year in the US there are about 12,000 cases of soft tissue sarcomas and 3,000 bone cancers diagnosed per the National Cancer Institute. Sarcomas are found in both children and adults. Sarcomas are often difficult to diagnose early because the symptoms can be similar to other medical conditions and may not be seen until they are pressing on adjacent organs or body parts. A soft tissue sarcoma symptom might look like a painless lump or selling. Whereas a bone sarcoma might exhibit as painful and swelling or one might experience a limited range of motion from an extremity. Always seek medical attention with any new or concerning symptoms. Sarcoma Treatment will depend on certain factors; type of sarcoma, location, grade and size. A medical team will order imaging and will stage the cancer. Sarcoma is treated with a combination of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery. For more information on sarcomas visit National Cancer Institute https://www.cancer.gov
