September – Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

Ovarian Cancer is often known as the “silent killer” due to its vague symptoms like bloating, pelvic pain and frequent urination. Ovarian cancer affects around 22,000 women in the US each year and is usually diagnosed in later stages.

Key Facts:

Risk Factors: Family history, age, BRCA mutations, and endometriosis increase ones risk.

Symptoms: Bloating, pelvic pain, trouble eating, and urinary issues that persist.

Detection: There is no standard screening; diagnosis often involves pelvic exams, ultrasounds, imaging and blood tests.
